SMA 905 Polyimide Fiber Connectors are used to terminate UHV and air service fiber optic cables. These SMA optical connectors mate with Polyimide buffered fiber only due to the buffer size of the fiber.
SMA 905 Aluminum Fiber Connectors are used to terminate UHV and air service fiber optic cables. These connectors mate with Aluminum buffered fiber only due to the buffer size of the fiber.
Use the following instruction to attach and crimp SMA-905 connectors to an optical fiber...
1. If using a PEEK or silver-plated Copper braided jacket — cut jacket to the desired length.
2. Cleave fiber optic cable to the desired length. Allow .50 inch of fiber to stick out from connectors at each end of the cable assembly.
3. Insert the entire length of the fiber into the braided jacket, leaving an equal amount of fiber sticking out each end of the jacket.
4. Mix Epoxy, part number 111785, by combining the two-part resin and hardener components together.
5. Using an epoxy syringe for application, part number 111787, apply some epoxy inside of the first connector until a small amount exits the ferrule tip.
6. Slide connector onto fiber until .50 inch of fiber extends beyond connector, then apply a small dab of epoxy to ferrule end right where fiber protrudes through ferrule tip.
7. Let the epoxy cure for... See epoxy cure times at 111785
8. Slide jacket over connector barrel, then slide crimp sleeve over jacket and connector barrel.
9. Using Crimp Tool part number 100908, crimp sleeve tightly to connector barrel.
Repeat steps 1–9 for subsequent connectors and/or cable assemblies... Connectors are now ready for polishing.
